Review: Truett’s Luau – the Hawaiian Chickfila
Raise your hand if you love Chick-Fil-A?! Their chicken sandwiches are a staple here in Georgia. The founder of Chick-Fil-A, Truett Cathy, created the chain in Fayetteville, Georgia (about an hour south of Atlanta). He also launched a few unique Chick-fil-a’s here like Truett’s Luau, Truett’s Grill, and formerly Truett’s Pizza Cafe. Truett’s Luau launched in 2013, a year before his death, as his very own little “staycation”. Recently, it’s become a tiktok sensation as people discover this amazing hidden gem!!
Well, I took a little roadtrip in Georgia to see what all the craze was about at Truett’s Luau and let me tell you… it did not disappoint!! #truettsluau
Menu at Truett’s Luau
The most unique thing about Truett’s Luau is their menu! They feature all of the normal Chick-Fil-A items like waffle fries and chicken sandwiches, but also have an enhanced menu that is all Hawaiian themed. Some of the unique food options include:
- Tropical Chicken Nuggets
- Sweet Potato Waffle Fries
- Pineapple Fried Rice
- Luau Fish Sandwich
- Luau Burger with Pineapple
- Island Chicken Salad Sandwich
- Chicken, Fried Cod, or Mahi Tacos
- Hawaiian Bread Pudding
- Pineapple Macadamia Nut Milkshake
- Frosted Pineapple
Overall, the unique food items were amazing! I loved the Tropical Chicken Nuggets and my family really enjoyed the Pineapple Luau Burger. The Frosted Pineapple milkshake was the perfect refreshment for a hot summer day.

Location & How To Get There
Truett’s Luau is located about 40 minutes to 1 hour south of Atlanta, Georgia in Fayetteville! Along the way, you’ll see many other Chick-Fil-A Dwarf Houses.
Address: 600 West Lanier Ave., Suite 103, Fayetteville, GA 30214
What To Expect
You’ll definitely receive the normal A+ customer service at this location, just like all other Chick-Fil-A’s. Here, you’ll also find all of the employees wearing Hawaiian shirts! There’s a lovely water fountain outside with palm trees surrounding it and the drive through looks like a Tikki Hut. Instead, the restaurant is decorated with Hawaiian trees, wood carvings, ukulele musicians, and more! Inside, you’ll find more unique menu items (like steak and pork).
Visiting Now (as of May 2020)
Currently (as of May 2020), the restaurant is only operating with drive through or mobile pick up orders. No guests are allowed into the restaurant due to Covid-19. Due to the sudden increase in popularity (thanks to tiktok videos #truettsluau), the drive-thru line is LONG. We arrived at 10:45AM and didn’t get our food until 11:30AM. Most of that was spent waiting to order. They had a good system in place to handle the crowds with cops policing traffic and staff outside to help answer questions and direct you the right way. We received our food and pulled over into a parking spot to eat. Then, we went to a grocery store to use the restroom before our hour drive back home (sigh, covid problems).
Fun Fact: Bee Hive
Random Fun Fact: Truett’s Luau has their very own Beehive! You can spot it from the drive through and it sits on top of the restaurant in what appears to look like 2 old filing cabinets!
