The Phu Quoc Night Market is a bustling and vibrant market that comes alive in the evenings. Located in Duong Dong town, the market is a great place to experience the local culture, try traditional Vietnamese street food, and shop for souvenirs. The market is filled with colorful stalls selling everything from seafood, BBQ skewers, and local desserts to clothing, accessories, and handicrafts.

Phu Quoc Cable Car

The Phu Quoc Cable Car is one of the top things to do in Phu Quoc. This is largely in part to the world record achievement: It is the longest cable car ride in the world that stretches over the sea, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding islands.

The cable car ride takes about 15-20 minutes to get from one end to the other and provides stunning views of the An Thoi archipelago, the Hon Thom island, and the lush green forests of Phu Quoc.

The ride ends at Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park, where visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, such as a water park, a giant aquarium, and a funfair.

You can opt to buy tickets that include the Cable Car and Snorkeling as well!

Suoi Tranh Waterfall

I’m keeping this landmark on the list of things to do in Phu Quoc, but I want to begin with a forewarning: the waterfall dries up over the summer months! No one told us this so we paid for entry and hiked one mile in the muggiest climate, only to realize there was nothing to see other than the photo ops at the beginning of the hike. Ask about the conditions before you pay!

Suoi Tranh Waterfall is a beautiful and tranquil spot located in the center of Phu Quoc Island. The waterfall is surrounded by lush green forests, making it a perfect place to escape the heat and hustle of the city.

Visitors can take a “short trek” through the forest to reach the waterfall, where they can relax and enjoy the serene surroundings. The water cascades down from a height of around 4 meters, creating a pool at the bottom where visitors can swim and cool off.

Prior to the hike, there is a cultural area with many photo ops in the jungle! The below photo is an example of one of the MANY photo opportunities.

Phu Quoc Prison, also known as Coconut Tree Prison, is a historical site that offers visitors a glimpse into the island’s dark past. The prison was built by French colonialists in the late 1940s to hold political prisoners, and later used by the South Vietnamese government during the Vietnam War to imprison Viet Cong soldiers.

The prison has since been converted into a museum that displays the cramped and brutal conditions in which prisoners were kept, as well as exhibits on the history of the prison and the island’s role in the war.
